10th MNCA Elite Trophy REYS thrash ESU by 7 wickets for second straight win, YWC post slender 5-run victory

IMPHAL, Feb 13 : REYS, Nagamapal overwhelmed ESU, Wangkhei Palace Compound by 7 runs for the second straight victory as YWC, Langthabal beat KCC, Kongba by 5 runs for their first win in the 10th MNCA W Prahlada and W Ramananda Elite Trophy 2025-26.
At Lairenjam Public Ground, REYS, who crushed SCCC by 147 runs in their opening game, carried forward their momentum and chased down a meagre target of 99 runs within 23.4 overs at the cost of 3 wickets.
Toss winners, ESU were dismissed for just 98 runs with Sohail Akram (3/8), Kiran Laishram (3/10), Ringku Kangujam (2/33) of REYS doing the demolition job effectively before Saddam Ahmed Shah 38 not out off 20 balls and KKV Mustaque 28 not out off 46 balls finished off the chase in style.
Hanjabam Donba 23 off 30 balls was the highest run getter for ESU followed by Soibam Sayonba 17 off 14 and L Henary 16 off 24 before Chitaranjan Sharma returned with the best figures of 2/33 and L Henary (1/21) claimed one.
L Kiran who led the REYS bowling attack was adjudged player of the match.
Elsewhere at Model Hr Sec School and Oriental College playground, YWC posted a modest total of 207/7 in 40 overs before restricting KCC to 202/8 in 40 overs to open their winning account.
Jiko Sorokhaibam 48, Heisnam Manikanta 28, Seram Robinson 23 and Nepram Herojit 23 led the scoring for YWC after they won the toss and elected to bat first before Yumnam Chingkhei Nganba (4/19) and Pukhrambam Prashantamani (2/35) played crucial role in disturbing the KCC chase despite Nongmaithem Dijaraj scoring the highest 65 off 106. Keisham Mranjojit 38, Keisham Basantakumar 27, Nameirakpam Arbin 26 and N Sanayai 11 also made double digit scores for KCC in a lost cause.
Earlier in the first innings, Th Nishikanta enjoyed a three wicket haul (3/23) as three others managed a wicket apiece.
Y Chingkhei Nganba was adjudged player of the match.
