CM inspects embankment work

Chief Minister Yumnam Khemchand Singh today conducted an inspection of the ongoing rejuvenation efforts along the Imphal River, focusing on the work being carried out at various locations along the riverbank.
The rejuvenation project aims to improve water quality and reduce the river’s Biochemical Oxygen Demand (BOD), said a press statement issued by the CM Secretariat.
The Chief Minister reviewed the progress of the eco-embankment project near Lamlong Bridge, where construction is underway on a 100-meter stretch as a part of a pilot initiative.
The project is designed to address bank erosion and enhance the water quality of the river.
Accompanying the Chief Minister during the inspection were Arun Kumar Sinha, Principal Secretary of Forest, Environment and Climate Change; Dr T Brajakumar Singh, Director of Environment and Climate Change; and other officials concerned.
The Chief Minister also visited Khurai Salanthong to review development projects on Pangei Road.
He urged the implementing agencies to expedite the road work to alleviate the difficulties faced by the public due to the poor road conditions.
Earlier, Chief Minister Yumnam Khemchand Singh had visited Singjamei Oinam Thingel, where he inspected the ongoing construction of an embankment wall along the Imphal River.
