IMPHAL, Feb 16 : CYCLONE, Thangmeiband beat Model Club, Singjamei Chingamakha by 6 wickets for the second win as SCCC, Singjamei Thongam Leikai ended PTRC’s three game winning streak in today’s matches of the ongoing 10th MNCA W Prahlada and W Ramananda Elite Trophy.
At Lairenjam Public Ground, CYCLONE registered their second win in four matches by riding on L Kishan’s allround show and Ningthoujam Thoiba’s half century knock.
Opting to bat first, Model Club faced a tough time facing CYCLONE bowlers and ended up gathering 175 runs for 8 wickets despite Maisnam Tejkumar’s fighting 47 off 53 balls and CYCLONE fought their way to the winning 178 in 38.3 overs with 6 wickets left to spare.
Langlonyamba 27 off 22 balls, Irungbam Tonton 20 off 67 balls and three others also managed double digit scores for Model Club in the innings that saw CYCLONE’s Loktongbam Santosh (2/36) and Kishan Laishram (2/38) sharing 4 wickets to disrupt the innings.
In reponse, Ningthoujam Thoiba smacked 59 off 54 balls (9 fours and 1 six) to give CYCLONE a solid start. He gathered 84 runs with L Santosh (31 off 64 balls) for the first wicket in 16.2 overs before Md Al Bashid 34 off 36 balls and Kishan 29 off 46 balls to carry the chase to the sniffing distance of a win.
Nongthombam Denin 12 not out off 24 balls and Md Aqeel 1 not out off 8 the finished off the chase.
Yanglem Suson (1/18), Y Romario (1/40), W Priyokumar (1/45) and Anand Naorem (1/21) were among the wickets for Model Club in a lost cause.
At Model Hr Sec School and Oriental College ground, SCCC, Singjamei ended their 3-game winless run by ending the 3-game winning streak of title favourites PTRC, Patsoi Part IV.
Electing to bat first, PTRC slumped to 156 all out in 39 overs as SCCC’s Bikash Singh (3/23), Khaidem Joyraj (3/28) and Heisnam Samsung (2/29) combined well to unsettled their rivals before Bikash Singh top-scored with 46 off 38 balls to help the team eclipse the total in 31 overs with 4 wickets left to spare.
Ngariyanbam Johnson 27 off 69 and Andy Mandingbam 25 off 36 were the leading PTRC scorers today before they failed to overcome SCCC chase despite RK Rex (2/33) and Jotin Pheiroijam (2/19) leading the bowling attack.
Ulenyai 28, Basant 26 and Lishan Khaiden 27 also made useful contributions to help SCCC seal the four wicket win. Bikash who produced an all round show was adjudged player of the match.
