IMPHAL, Feb 17 : Assam Rifles (AR) Women’s Polo Team will square off against Imphal Riding Club in the title clash of the 4th Chittamohini State Women’s Polo Cup on February 19.
AR Women’s Polo Team made it to the final with a 6-4 win over Chingkheihunba Polo Club, Kongpal in the first semi-final today before Imphal Riding Club, Lamphel got the better of Ibudhou Pakhangba Polo Club, Malom by 9-2 goals in the second semi-final match.
In the first semi-final match, AR Women’s Polo Team enjoyed a 4-1 lead till halfway mark before adding two goals in the final chukker to seal the 6-4 win despite M Priya’s heroics.
M Enourembi scored twice in the opening chukker to hand AR Women’s Polo Team a 2-1 lead as M Priya scored one for the Kongpal side.
H Pitu and O Veronica then added a goal each in the second chukker to make it 4-1 before M Priya scored twice in the third chukker to reduce the gap to 3-4 for Chingkheihunba Polo Club.
Priya had her fourth goal in the second minute of the final chukker to level the margin but N Laxmi and O Veronica added a goal apiece in the 6th and the 7th minutes to fire AR Women’s Polo Team ahead and seal the victory.
Later in the second semi-final match, Kh Deventy scored four, Kh Habe Devi scored three goals and L Lucy scored twice to earn Imphal Riding Club a 9-2 win over Ibudhou Pakhangba Polo Club. Kh Habe scored twice to earn Imphal Riding Club a 2-0 advantage in the first chukker before adding one in the second chukker to help her team take a 6-0 lead with L Lucy having her first goal and Deventy adding twice.
Deventy completed her treble in the third chukker that also saw Shira of Ibudhou Pakhangba Polo Club scoring one to make it 7-1 before Lucy and Deventy scored a goal each in the final chukker wherein Chaoba scored the second and final goal for the Malom side.
