10th MNCA Elite Trophy RCA hammer CHAMP by 114 runs as ESU upset TRAU by 8 wickets

IMPHAL, Feb 17 : RCA, Lilong picked up their third win in four games by handing CHAMP CC, Khagempalli a 114-run defeat in the 10th MNCA W Prahlada and W Ramananda Elite Trophy as ESU, Wangkhei Palace Compound stunned TRAU, Kwakeithel by 8 wickets to end the latter team’s three game winning streak.
At Moijing Public Ground in Thoubal, Makakmayum Aziz Mirza produced a stellar batting performance to hit a century, 117 off 104 balls, while Md Imran Khan scored a 87-ball 71 to help RCA post an imposing total of 282 runs for 8 wickets after being asked to bat first by CHAMP CC.
Chasing the big total, CHAMP CC collapsed at 168 in 30.2 overs as Aziz Mirza (3/47), Zuned (2/29) and Naesh Hussain (2/30) combined well to disrupt the chase.
RCA had a dominating start with Md Imran Khan and Aziz Mirza forging 183 runs for the first wicket stand in 29.5 overs before Syed Hussain and Zamir Khan added identical 21 and Zuned remained unbeaten on 14 to raise a daunting total for RCA today.
Md Sultan Karim of CHAMP returned with the best figures of 3/52 as Chingakham Ranjan chipped in with 2 wickets (2/57). Md Babu and Y Karnajit also picked a wicket apiece but they conceded a bulk of 93 runs.
In reply, CHAMP CC had a shaky start despite Yumnam Karnajit 32, Sultan Karim 29 and Abdul Kasim 34 trying to hold things together.
Iliyas (1/17) and Zamir Khan (1/24) also produced frugal bowling performances to help RCA script the dominating win.
Elsewhere at Lairenjam Public Ground, ESU, who posted their first win in three games against CRAU, Khamnam Bazar, carried forward their momentum to seal a commanding 8-wicket win over TRAU.
ESU wisely chose to field first and bundled out TRAU for 109 runs in 32.2 overs riding on exemplary bowling performances from Lourembam Dipu (4/13), Leishangbam Bishorjit (3/17) and Tennyson (2/18) before Sanatomba, who lost his opening partner early, scored an unbeaten 54 off 70 balls to steer ESU to the target in 24.5 overs with M Bimananda, 27 not out off 32 balls, on the other end of the crease.
Only Ningthoujam Sanjit 47 off 53 balls and Pukhrambam Prafullomani 12 off 13 balls were the double digit scorers for TRAU today as other batters fell cheaply.
Ningthoujam Sanjit (1/8) and Anoubam Puinchandra (1/21) claimed a wicket apiece for TRAU in the second innings.
