Imphal West’s ASMITA Sepaktakraw League Hosts YAWA top sub-junior girls’ competition, WAC emerge junior girls’ champs

IMPHAL, Feb 2 : Hosts YAWA, Singjamei emerged as the sub-junior toppers while WAC claimed the junior girls’ title in the ASMITA Women Sepaktakraw League 2025-26 for Imphal West that began yesterday at their Singjamei Leishangthem Leikai Indoor hall.
YAWA topped the 6-team league tournament by securing five of five wins as CYLC, Singjamei Chingamathak finished runners up with three wins and OLYC finished second runners up.
YAWA won 15-10, 15-4 against WVSD in their league opener before defeating FUC 15-12, 15-10 in the second match.
YAWA carried forward their winning momentum by handing OLYC a 15-12, 15-12 defeat before getting better of SEDO 15-8, 15-18 and CYLC 15-7, 15-10 in the following matches.
CYLC also went down 13-15, 15-9, 13-15 to WVSD but pulled off 15-8, 15-11 win over FUC, 15-12, 12-15, 15-6 win over OLYC and 15-4, 15-8 win over SEDO to seal the second position.
OLYC were placed third courtesy of 15-13, 15-8 win over FUC and 15-13, 15-10 win over SEDO.
WAC seal junior girls’ pole position
WAC pipped hosts YAWA to seal the pole position in the junior girls’ competition even as both the teams registered 5 wins respectively.
Hosts YAWA scored straight sets victory against five teams except against WAC, who also suffered only one defeat to SEDO in 6 matches, to miss their title shot based on tie breaker rule.
YAWA beat WVSD 15-11, 15-7 yesterday for the first win but went down 14-17, 13-15 to WAC in the second match.
They bounced back with a 15-6, 15-12 win over CYLC later in the day before securing 15-7, 15-6 win over FUC; 15-5, 15-6 win over OLYC and 15-9, 15-2 win over SEDO today.
Meanwhile, WAC had extended their winning run to three games yesterday by defeating FUC 15-9, 15-10 and CYLC 15-7, 15-11.
WAC won 15-10, 15-10 against OLYC; 15-8, 15-10 against WVSD today before going down 15-7, 6-15, 13-15 to SEDO in their final league match.
SEDO, who also won against FUC (15-10, 15-12), OLYC (15-10, 15-7) and CYLC (15-8, 15-8) finished third in the competition.
The competition for Imphal East district is due to begin on February 5 at IMSUC Hanajing Community Hall, Heingang.
The competition for Thoubal district is meanwhile scheduled to be held from February 7 to 9 at Thoubal Mela Ground Community Hall. For the Kakching district, the competition will be held from February 10 to 12 at SWC Community Hall, Kakching.
