IMPHAL, Feb 19: Financial aid provided by the Government for IDPs was distributed to the IDPs staying in relief camps within Thangmeiband AC today.
At an event held today at Khoyathong Pukhri Achouba community hall, MLA Kh Joykisan distributed the financial aid through DBT.
Speaking at the event, Joykisan hailed the several measures initiated by Chief Minister Yumnam Khemchand for resettlement of IDPs and their welfare.
The previous Government had announced a financial aid of Rs one lakh to each displaced family and Rs 25,000 each had been delivered to the displaced families, Joykisan said.
He then appealed to all displaced families to inform the Government if they have not yet received the sum of Rs 25,000.
Saying that Rs 2420 was being given to all IDPs through DBT today, Joykisan announced that Rs 20,000 will be given to each displaced family under Chief Minister Khemchand’s initiative.
Now, there is no problem for the displaced people of Sugnu and Napat to go back to their home, and they have started going back.
Likewise, the people of Phougakchao area have also started returning home except for a few pockets, Joykisan said.
Except for Torbung, Churachandpur and Moreh, IDPs can now go back to their home. The Government has been working at its best level so that all the IDPs can go back and resettle at their original places, he said.
The people of Manipur want peace but there are some pseudo leaders who seek undue advantage by creating communal tension, the Thangmeiband MLA said.
These pseudo leaders have been hindering hill-valley interaction, he added.
History stands testimony to the fact that communal violence did not bring anything positive, Joykisan asserted before calling for communal harmony and peaceful co-existence.
He said that it’s time to forget the past and forgive each other.
Legislators of the State visited New Delhi recently and many Central leaders assured that the integrity of Manipur will remain intact and no Separate Administration will be created, Joykisan asserted.
He said that he has been working to provide free education up to standard X to all displaced students living in relief camps within Thangmeiband AC.
One Yumkhaibam Ajit, displaced from Churachandpur and currently taking shelter at Khoyathong Tombisana High School relief camp, said that MLA Joykisan has been looking after all their basic needs with compassion for the last two years.
The MLA even arranged private tuition for displaced students.
The MLA personally helped IDP families when there were medical problems, death, marriage etc, Ajit said.
He also expressed a keen desire to go back and resettle at their homes.
