10th MNCA Elite Trophy 2025-26 REYS, CHAMP CC extend winning run with 7-wicket victories

IMPHAL, Feb 21 : REYS, Khwai Nagamapal Lamabam Leikai upstaged RCA, Lilong by 7 wickets for the fourth win in the 10th MNCA W Prahlada and W Ramananda Elite Trophy 2025-26 as CHAMP CC, Khagempalli scripted a similar win against Model Club, Chingamakha.
At Moijing Public Ground, REYS opted to field first and rode on Kiran Laishram and Sohail Akram to bundle out RCA for 109 runs in 34.1 overs and eased to the winning 113 in 17.2 overs courtesy of Md Basir Rahman’s unbeaten 41 off 52 balls (6 fours).
RCA had a sloppy start and slumped to 15/3 in 10.1 overs as Naorem Victor removed Md Imran on 4 for the first wicket and Sohail Akram undone Makakmayum Aziz Mirza on 5 and Md Nasirshah Alam Nongjaimayum on 10 for the second and third wickets.
The downhill continued with Kiran Laishram sweeping four wickets on the trot including leading scorers- Md Anush  on 28 and Syed Hussain on 20 to make it 82/7 in 26 overs.
Sapam Bikash and Ringku Kangujam inflicted further damage by picking the 8th and the 9th wicket respectively before Sohail Akram returned to action and claimed the final wicket in the 1st delivery of the 35th over.
Kiran Laishram returned with the best bowling figures of 4/21 in his spell of 8 overs as Sohail Akram posted 3/6 in 7.1 overs.
Chasing 110 for the fourth victory in five matches, opener Md Basir Rahaman produced a matured performance to guide REYS to 113/3 with Saddam Ahamed Shah (17 not out off 8; 2 fours and 1 six).
Zamir Khan of RCA picked two wickets (2/38) in this innings as Naesh Hussain managed one (1/33).
Elsewhere at Lairenjam Public Ground, CHAMP CC bundled out toss winners Model Club for 74 runs in 24.4 overs and cruised to the winning 77 within 15.2 overs at the cost of just three wickets.
Md Sultan Karim shone with a fifer (5/15 in 6.4 overs) for CHAMP CC in the first innings as he picked scalps of two middle order batters before sweeping three tailenders. His teammate Abdul Kasim meanwhile assisted him with a treble of wickets (3/18) to keep Model Club batters in the lurch.
Only Yungkham Romario 22 off 28 and Kisan Singh Wahengbam 14 off 17 registered double digit scores for Model Club today in an innings that also saw Md Ahsanul Kabir and Chingakham Ranjan claiming a wicket apiece for CHAMP CC.
In reply, CHAMP CC lost three wickets in 9 overs with 35 runs on the scoreboard but opener Yumnam Karnajit (38 not out off 43 balls) made sure the team seal the second win in five matches by forging an unbeaten stand of 42 runs with Md Sultan Karim (12 not out).
Yungkham Romario of Model Club finished with 2/27 as Biyon Naorem picked one (1/12).
