IMPHAL, Feb 25 : Chief Minister Y Khemchand returned to Imphal today after a series of meetings with Central leadership, including Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Union Home Minister Amit Shah.
He arrived at Imphal around 3 pm and sources said the CM is set to meet BJP MLAs tomorrow.
Immediately upon his arrival, the Chief Minister inspected the ongoing concrete road project at Dingku Road, specifically the stretch from Chingmeirong to Khurai Lamlong.
He was accompanied by Wangkhei AC MLA Th Arunkumar during the inspection.
Afterward, Khemchand visited Thambal Shanglen at Nityaipat Chuthek, where he met BJP Manipur president A Sharda Devi, along with party office bearers and workers.
He reportedly briefed them about the discussions he had during his meetings with Central leadership in New Delhi.
Khemchand, who went to New Delhi on February 21, had a series of courtesy meetings with top Central leaders, including Prime Minister Modi, Union Home Minister Amit Shah, Defence Minister Rajnath Singh, Road Transport and Highways Minister Nitin Gadkari, Agriculture and Rural Development Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan, DoNER Minister Jyotir-aditya M Scindia, BJP Na- tional president Nitin Nabin, and National general secretary (Organization) BL San- tosh, among others.
The Chief Minister was accompanied by Deputy Chief Ministers Nemcha Kipgen and Losii Dikho during these meetings.
According to reports received by The Sangai Express, Khemchand has scheduled a meeting with BJP MLAs at Thambal Shanglen tomorrow at 4 pm. The meeting is expected to focus on the upcoming Budget session of the Manipur Legislative Assembly.
The reports also suggested that the expansion of the State Cabinet will likely take place after the Budget session is convened, indicating that the distribution of portfolios and the swearing-in of new Ministers may not happen in the immediate future. Meanwhile, during his meeting with party office bearers and workers, the Chief Minister reportedly assured them of the Centre's commitment to peace and development in the State.
