FC Imphal, YWC-Th emerge victorious in U-19 Women’s Football Tournament

IMPHAL, Feb 4 : FC Imphal defeated the Young Welfare Club, Langthabal (YWC-L) 2-0 for the third straight Group  B victory as Youth Welfare Club, Thambalkhong (YWC-Th) overwhelmed ICSA, Irengbam 11-0 for the second win in the U-19 Women’s Football Tournament 2025-26 today.
In the first match staged this afternoon at Artificial Turf Ground, Lamlong Thongkhong, FC Imphal rode on first half goals to end YWC-L’s two game winning run.
Herina Basumatary found the breakthrough in the 19th minute for FC Imphal, who crushed ICSA 17-1 in the previous match, before Leihaorungbam Sanathoi converted a penalty in the 30th minute to make it 2-0.
FC Imphal then held on to their lead despite desperate attempts from YWC-L to return into the game with a series of attacks in the remainder of the game.
In the second Group B match staged later in the day, Thounaojam Martina netted five goals (28’, 32’, 45+3’, 64’, 87’) and Leikangbam Russia scored thrice (13’, 14’, 35’) to earn YWC-Th a huge 11-10 win over ICSA, Irengbam.
Sagolshem Ronika (52’), Irom Priyadashini (76’) and Maxina Pheiroijam (89’) also found their names on the scoresheet for the winning side.
It was the second win for YWC-Th after their slender 0-1 opening game loss to FC Imphal.
