Normalcy can be achieved, says Y Khemchand noting presence of Sanate, Khaute

IMPHAL, Feb 4: The presence of elected representatives of two communities in the swearing in ceremony has reinforced belief that peace and normalcy can be restored in Manipur, said Chief Minister Yumnam Khemchand today.
He made this statement, apparently referring to the presence of Churachandpur MLA LM Khaute and Tipaimukh MLA Ngursanglur Sanate in the swearing in ceremony at Lok Bhavan Imphal, after taking oath of office and secrecy as Chief Minister.
Answering a question from the media, Yumnam Khemchand said that Manipur is a State which is inhabited and protected by 36 different communities.
"The presence of elected members of two communities in the swearing in ceremony today has reinforced belief that normalcy and peace can be achieved," Y Khemchand said.
By electing him as the Chief Minister, Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Union Home Minister Amit Shah and BJP National president Nitin Nabin have given him a great responsibility and put faith in him, Khemchand said.
"I take their trust in me and the responsibility that has been given to me seriously," Khemchand said, adding he will work his best to not forfeit the "trust".
When asked what will be done while he is in office, Khemchand said he will decide it after consulting his Council of Ministers and others in the Government.
"A Government is a collective responsibility. I can't decide this alone," Khemchand said.
The Prime Minister of the country has a vision to achieve Viksit Bharat by 2047. Manipur will be a part of this journey and take key roles, he said, thanking the Central leadership.
Meanwhile, Prime Minister Narendra Modi has congratulated Yumnam Khemchand on taking oath as Chief Minister.
"Congratulations to Shri Yumnam Khemchand Singh Ji on taking oath as the Chief Minister of Manipur," wrote Prime Minister Modi on X.
The PM also congratulated Deputy Chief Ministers, Nemcha Kipgen and Losii Dikho, and Cabinet Ministers, Konthoujam Govindas and Khuraijam Loken.
The Prime Minister wrote on X, "I would like to congratulate Smt. Nemcha Kipgen Ji and Shri Losii Dikho on taking oath as the Deputy Chief Ministers of the State and Shri Konthoujam Govindas Singh Ji as well as Shri Khuraijam Loken Singh Ji on being sworn in as Ministers in the Manipur Government. I'm confident they will work diligently towards furthering development and prosperity for my sisters and brothers of Manipur."
After taking oath, Y Khemchand was given a warm welcome at the office of the BJP at Nityaipat Chuthek. During it, the Chief Minister said the people who are suffering the most at present are the internally displaced persons, and his Government would work to address their grievances. People of all communities must learn come and foster peaceful coexistence, he added.
