Indian Army observe World Cancer Day

IMPHAL, Feb 4: On the occasion of World Cancer Day, the Indian Army conducted a series of Cancer Awareness and Medical Outreach Programmes across multiple locations in Manipur, reaffirming its commitment to community welfare and preventive healthcare.
As per a release issued by the Indian Army, a Cancer awareness workshop and screening camp was organised at Mission Veng, Leimakhong, with participation of around 150 residents, students, teachers, and community members.
The programme focused on early warning signs, risk factors, preventive measures, tobacco cessation, healthy lifestyle practices, and the importance of early detection. Medical consultations, preliminary cancer risk assessments, basic investigations, and referral guidance were provided.
The Indian Army also conducted a cancer awareness and health education session at St Joseph School, Andro, educating students on causes, symptoms, and prevention of cancer. A motivational interaction highlighting career opportunities, including in the Armed Forces, was followed by distribution of medical and first aid kits.
In addition, the Army also organised a World Cancer Day awareness programme and medical camp at Island Village, attended by around 70 villagers. The session included an awareness lecture by the RMO, medical screening, and distribution of essential medicines.
Through these initiatives, the Indian Army reaffirmed its role as an active partner in community welfare, promoting health awareness, early diagnosis, and societal well-being.
