Nemcha, Khaute, Sanate virtually attend Assembly session from Delhi

IMPHAL, Feb 5  : In a significant development, the seventh session of the 12th Manipur Legislative Assembly which was convened today saw the participation of three Kuki-Zo MLAs, albeit virtually.
This marks the first Assembly session in which Kuki-Zo MLAs have participated since the crisis erupted on May 3, 2023.
The Assembly session, which began with the Governor's address, was atten- ded by 46 ruling MLAs including three Kuki Zos viz Deputy Chief Minister Nemcha Kipgen,  LM Khau-te (Churachandpur MLA) and Ngursanglur Sanate (Tipaimukh MLA) and five Congress MLAs.
In total, 48 MLAs participated physically, while the three Kuki-Zo MLAs joined virtually from New Delhi.
Chief Minister Yumnam Khemchand drew the Spea-ker's attention, seeking approval for the Kuki-Zo MLAs to attend the session virtually.
The Speaker granted the request after obtaining consent from other members of the House, with no opposition raised by any of the members.
The Kuki MLAs who didn't attend the Assembly session included Thanlon Assembly Constituency MLA Vungzagin Valte (BJP), Henglep AC MLA Letzamang Haokip (BJP), Saikot AC MLA Paolienlal Haokip (BJP), Saitu AC MLA Haokholet Kipgen (Independent), Saikul AC MLA  Kimneo Haokip (KPA) and Singhat AC MLA Chinlunthang (KPA).
