Manipur bag 2 silver medals in IWLF National Weightlifting Championships

IMPHAL, Feb 5: State weightlifters won 2 silver medals in the IWLF National Weightlifting Championships 2025-26 at Modinagar, Uttar Pradesh.
Ch Rishikanta Singh and Th Bunny Singh bagged the two silver medals in the men's senior 60 kg and junior men's 60 kg category respectively.
In the senior men's 60 kg category, Ch Rishikanta Singh lifted a total of 266 kg to secure the second place in the championship.
He lifted 119 kg in snatch and 147 kg in clean and jerk.
Karnataka's Gururaja Poojari secured the gold medal by lifting a total of 269 kg, 119 kg snatch and 150 kg clean and jerk.
S Guru Naidu of SSCB bagged the bronze medal, lifting a total of 265 kg, 118 kg snatch and 147 kg clean and jerk.
Manipur's N Tomchou Meetei secured the 5th place, lifting a total of 256 kg, 113 kg snatch and 143 kg in clean and jerk.
In the junior men's 60 kg category, State weightlifter Th Bunny Singh lifted a total of 247 kg to win the silver medal.
He lifted 113 kg in snatch and 134 kg in clean and jerk.
Chera Tania of Arunachal Pradesh won the gold by lifting a total of 253 kg, 110 kg in snatch and 143 kg in clean and jerk.
Isak Malsawmtluanga of Mizoram was placed in the third position. He lifted a total of 239 kg, 104 kg in snatch and 135 kg in clean and jerk.
