IMPHAL, Feb 7 : Juvenile Club, Tera outlasted NESU, Porompat 3-1 on penalties after a 2-2 regulation time draw to advance into the quarterfinals of the 16th Shaheed Manoranjan Singh Memorial CRPF Football Tournament 2025-26 being underway at SAI Turf ground, Takyel.
Juvenile Club fought back twice to salvage a 2-2 regulation time today before NESU found the target only once in the penalty shoot-out to concede the overall 3-5 loss.
The two sides were neck and neck from the beginning but L Nongdamba earned NESU a slender 1-0 first half lead with his 40th minute strike.
The lead was however cancelled by S Swamichandra of Juvenile Club in the 52nd minute before Kh Borish retained the lead for NESU in the 82nd minute.
NESU almost walked away with the win but K Ratanjit scored deep 7 minutes into the stoppage time to stretch the game to penalty shoot-out wherein Rantanjit, Ng Telheiba, and K Rishas converted for Juvenile Club against L Nongdamba’s lone goal for NESU.
TRUGPU, Nambol will play AIM, Khabam in the third match of the 16-team tournament on February 9 at 11 am before FC Raengdai, Noney take on MIUFC, Mayang Imphal from 2 pm in the fourth match.
