IMPHAL, Feb 7: Mayai Lambi (NH-137A) which has broken down to a deplorable condition is set to be repaired from February 9.
Speaking at reception functions held in his honour at Wangoi Thounaojam Leikai, Wangoi Makha Leikai and Samurou Makha Leikai today, newly inducted Cabinet Minister Kh Loken said that Chief Minister Y Khemchand will launch the road repairing work on Monday.
With funds provided by the Ministry of Road Transport and Highways, PWD will start repairing the Imphal-Kakching Lamkhai section of Mayai Lambi starting from Langthabal Lep Makha Leikai near Phuramakhong, Loken said.
Saying that he will be serving as a Minister under Chief Minister Y Khem-chand for just around one year, Loken asserted that he is a Minister of all the 60 Assembly segments of Manipur and he will undertake development works impartially.
He said that Manipur will be developed when all the 60 Assembly segments are developed.
Loken said that the State’s development trajectory went backward by 20 to 30 years during the last two years on account of the violent crisis.
“Keeping this in mind, we will work extra hours to make up for the lost time and speed up the development process”, he said.
Even though peace has slowly returned, a lasting solution to the protracted crisis is yet to be worked out. The new Government has been working at its best level to bring complete peace in the State, he said.
Loken said that resettlement and rehabilitation of the IDPs is the first priority of the State Government.
He also called for the Government and the people to work collectively in order to restore peace and normalcy in the State.
The Government alone cannot bring peace without cooperation of the people, he said.
Loken further called upon all to shed communal and parochial outlooks.
He said that he will make every effort to repair and construct all the dilapidated roads of Wangoi AC.
The Cabinet Minister announced that a magnificent gate will be constructed at the lane leading to the Lainingthou Sanamahi complex from Mayai Lambi.
He also appealed to the people of Wangoi AC to make all the roads of the Assembly segment free of plastic wastes.
Appreciating the recent cleanliness drive carried out by the people of Yumnam Huidrom by removing plastic and other wastes littering on the roads passing through their locality, Kh Loken appealed to all the people of Wangoi area to clean all the plastic wastes littered on roads in their respective localities on February 15.
