TTS Nambol, UTA dominate as 34th Manipur State Taekwondo Championship commences

IMPHAL, Feb 8 : TTS, Nambol and UTA, Yumnam Leikai shared 5 medals in senior men’s event as the 34th Manipur State Taekwondo Championship began today at Khuman Lampak Indoor Stadium under the auspices of the All Manipur Taekwondo Association.
The opening day of the championship saw LTA’s Maimom Devjit seal the senior men’s -54 kg category title by defeating L Pradip of UTA in the final. L Rohit of HTA and N Malemnganba of Takyel YPC settled for the bronze medals.
L Rohit of LTA meanwhile bagged the -58 kg category gold defeating NSA’ Ahongsangbam Lanchenba as UTA’s Kh Korounganba and B Rahul of TTS shared the bronze medal podium.
TTS’s Laishram Babloo, meanwhile clinched the -63 kg category gold by defeating Ningthoujam Tomba of UTA in the final while NSA’s Nitish and Kiran of UTA settled for the bronze medals.
Ningthoujam Surjit opened UTA’s gold medal account by defeating Anish Saikhom of TTA, Thoubal in the -68 kg category title as TTS’s T Nirvash and PTA’s M Malemnganba shared the bronze medals.
The senior men’s -74 kg category title went to PTA’s Jetlee Chabungbam as he defeated Mairembam Raj of UTA in the final before TTS Nambol’s Wahengbam Arson sealed the -87 kg category gold by defeating Huidrom Devajit of UTA in the final.
TTS’s Kangjam Milan earned the third goal for TTS in the -80 kg category competition by getting better of T Lucky in the final before M Pareihanba of UTA claimed the unit’s second gold medal by defeating compatriot Toijam Tondonsana in the final.
