IMPHAL, Mar 9 : Barkatun Khanam scored an unbeaten ton after claiming two wickets to guide Manipur to an emphatic 9-wicket win over Sikkim in the ongoing Women’s U23 One Day Trophy Plate at GMSSS Sec-26 Cricket Ground, Chandigarh today.
Barkatun smacked as many as 18 fours on the way to her 95-ball 104 not out and handed Manipur the second win of the tournament that began on March 3.
Manipur chose wisely to ball first today and bundled out Sikkim for 129 runs in 42.4 overs riding on Th Mangalsana 3/24, Barkatun 2/16 and Nonibala 2/18.
Sikkim saw the best stand of 61 runs between Nandika 26 off 45 and Samayita 29 off 33 for the first wicket before things fell apart with Mangalsana removing both the batters.
Dikcha 22, Tanu 11 and Diksha 11 were the other Sikkim batters who managed double digit runs for the team in the innings that also saw K Sayatombi (1/18) and Naoroibam Sophiya Chanu (1/9) claiming a wicket apiece for Manipur.
In reply, Barkatan and Th Mangalsana 12 forged a remarkable 126-run partnership off 142 runs and sealed the second victory for Manipur in 4 matches with 9 wickets and 26 overs to spare.
Manipur will play Nagaland in the final Plate group match on March 11 at Tau Devi Lal - PKL, Chandigarh.
