Ghana National held with Aadhaar, PAN

IMPHAL, Mar 10: A Ghana National arrested at Imphal International Airport without a valid Visa and PAP (Protected Area Permit) yesterday has been produced before a Court and remanded to 3-day police custody till March 12.
The 26-year-old Ghanaian identified as Mendy Junior Konu was found possessing an Aadhaar Card, a PAN card and one Passport of the Republic of Ghana.
He has been identified as a resident of 2nd Osabu street Accra Dansoman, Ghana, a West African country.
Mendy was detained and later arrested at the airport yesterday afternoon under Section 14 of the Foreigners Act.
At the airport's Foreigner Check Post yesterday, Mendy failed to produce valid documents, Visa and PAP, and as such he was detained, a report filed with the Singjamei police said.
Prosecutor in the Court today said Mendy entered Manipur by road. He applied for an Inner Line Permit at the Mao Gate on February 5 using  an Aadhaar and a PAN card.
He stayed at the Hills Academy Football Club in Senapati district, and his local contact has been identified as one RD Ismail of Taphou Naga Senapati, said the prosecutor.
His Inner Line Permit was valid up to March 7 , and he was planning to leave Imphal for Kolkata on a flight yesterday.
Mendy was produced before the Court of Chief Judicial Magistrate Imphal West by a team of Singjamei police today.
The prosecutor said Mendy has admitted to have committed charges levelled against him, and sought a 3-day police custody remand for further investigation.
The Court after hearing the submission of the prosecutor and on perusal of the case record, remanded Mendy Junior Konu to 3 days police custody till March 12.
