Poppy plantations destroyed, brown sugar seized

IMPHAL, Mar 10 : A team of Kangpokpi police was reportedly stopped by villagers from destroying poppy plants near Sanakeithel today on the ground that they have no jurisdiction in Ukhrul district, said sources and added that 25 acres of poppy plantations were however destroyed later after Ukhrul police swung into action.
The incident occurred at Ihang river bank near Sanakeithel.
In another instance, 5.7 Kg of brown sugar was seized and three persons were arrested at Thoubal yesterday, said a police bulletin issued today.
