CYCLONE, REYS extend winning runs in 10th MNCA Elite Trophy

IMPHAL, Mar 10 : CYCLONE, Thangmeiband and REYS, Khwai Nagamapal Lamabam Leikai extended their winning runs in the ongoing 10th MNCA W Prahlada and W Ramananda Elite Trophy and cemented their playoff hopes.
At Moijing Public Ground, CYCLONE piled up 243/7 and bundled out CRAU for 85 runs to seal their 8th win in 10 matches.
CYCLONE raised the commanding total thanks to a half century knock from Md Al Bashid (58 off 46 balls) and valuable contributions from Ningthoujam Thoiba (41 off 38 balls), Nongthombam Denin (40 not out off 45 balls) and Kishan Laishram (36 off 45 balls).
Lamabam Jotin (2/51) and Khumanthem Prakash (2/32) led the CRAU bowling attack before Nongthom Denin devastated their lineup and set up a collapse at 85 within 23 overs.
Ayekpam Rakesh 27 off 49 was the highest run getter for CRAU in reply as Denin walked away with a fifer (5/24) and deservedly received the player of the match trohy.
Md Aqeel (2/10) and Loktongbam Santosh (2/5) also managed 4 wickets for CYCLONE to give CRAU a tough time today.
Elsewhere at Lairenjam Public Ground, REYS pulled off their 6th win in 10 matches by handing CHAMP CC, Khagempalli a 31-run defeat.
Asked to bat first, REYS raised a modest total of 231 runs for the loss of 9 wickets thanks to half century knocks from Md Basir Rahman (72 off 75 balls) and Saddam Ahmed Shah (52 off 42 balls) before Kiran Laishram (5/13 in 8 overs) and Sohail Akram (3/26 in 5.3 overs) played crucial roles in bowling out CHAMP CC for 200 runs in 38.3 overs.
For CHAMP CC, Chingakham Ranjan (3/59), Md Babu (3/41) and Md Sultan Karim (2/38) shared 8 key wickets before Sultan Karim scored a 75-ball 66 in a lost cause.
