Bail period extended

IMPHAL, Mar 10: Session Judge Imphal West (in-charge) has extended interim anticipatory bail for actor Athokpam Gokulchandra till March 17.
The 45-year-old actor, who is also an Inspector at the Directorate of Consumer Affairs Food and Public Distribution, has been accused of assaulting and attempting to murder his wife.
The actor originally hails from Thangmeiband Hijam Leikai, but is staying at Langjing Achouba Maning Leikai.
An FIR was lodged against him for allegedly assaulting his wife and causing grievous hurt on February 23.
In a previous hearing which got him an anticipatory bail, the defence counsel had submitted that the FIR was registered by blowing things out of proportion.
The defence counsel had submitted that the incident was a minor altercation, and the accused never assaulted his wife except for uttering some harsh words.
