IMPHAL, Mar 11 : Manipur ended their Women’s U-23 One Day Trophy Plate campaign with a 4-wicket win over Nagaland today at Tau Devi Lal - PKL, Chandigarh.
It was the third win for Manipur in five matches of the tournament and eventually they finished fourth in the league table.
Mizoram and Sikkim also registered three wins in five matches but made it to the final as table toppers courtesy of their better Net Run Rate.
Manipur elected to field first today and bowled out Nagaland for 138 runs in 45.1 overs riding on a concerted bowling effort before Barkatun Khanam led from the front with a 68-ball 65 to set up the victory within 33 overs with four wickets to spare.
Vipeni 32, Alemienla 26 and Neetu Chetri 18 made most of the runs for Nagaland today in the first innings that saw Kiranbala Haorungbam (2/16) and K Sayatombi (2/30) claiming two wickets apiece and Th Mangalsana (1/22), Barkatun (1/21) and Naoroibam Sophiya Chanu (1/21) chipping in with a wicket apiece.
In reply, Barkatun saw her first three partners departing cheaply before Th Mangalsana (20 off 45) joined her and they produced a crucial partnership of 66 runs off 73 balls for the fourth wicket.
Barkatun departed on 65 for the 4th wicket as the scoreboard read 98 before Taniya Ningthoujam 23 not out off 34 balls and Kiranbala Haorungbam 8 not out off 13 balls took the team to the target.
Iduabeule (2/26) and Sariba (2/29) picked two wickets apiece for Nagaland today in the second innings while Vipeni picked one (1/38).
