IMPHAL, Mar 12 : The Indigenous People's Forum, Manipur (IPFM) has appealed Chief Minister Yumnam Khemchand to withdraw the ex-gratia and NIA investigation announced for the killing of two alleged Kuki militants at Litan/Shangkai area on March 11.
In a letter, IPFM maintained that the announcement of ex-gratia before getting evidential proof or a police report is premature and questionable.
Urging him to retract this decision, IPFM further highlighted the abduction of innocent civilians yesterday by Kuki militants at Shangkai village while raising concerns about the alignment of security forces with the militants.
"This perceived leniency towards Kuki militants is unacceptable", it declared.
Stating that the Chief Minister's announcement may be seen as an act of "appeasement", IPFM urged Yumnam Khemchand to instead take action against illegal immigrants "brandishing sophisticated weapons in civilian areas".
IPFM has urged the Chief Minister to withdraw the decisions immediately while cautioning that failure to do so might lead the Forum to consider the State BJP Government, under his leadership, as adversaries of the indigenous people of Manipur.
