IMPHAL, Mar 12: Manipur boxers L Radhamani, L Ambekar and Joyshree, representing India have entered the quarterfinals of the World Boxing Futures Cup 2026 in Bangkok.
On the 5th day today, Radhamani Longjam (57kg) displayed a dominant performance, defeating her opponent from Ecuador by Referee Stopped Contest (RSC) in the first round.
Other Indian boxers Gunjan and Chandrika Pujari also registered victories in their respective bouts.
In the morning session, Gunjan (48kg) secured a 5-0 unanimous decision victory over Poland.
Prachi (60kg) went down 5-0 to Slovakia, and Priyansh Sehrawat (70kg) suffered a 5-0 defeat against Morocco in the men’s division.
In the evening, Chandrika Pujari (50kg) secured a 5-0 unanimous decision victory over the United States.
Earlier in the tournament, Joyshree (54kg) had overwhelmed her opponent from Kazakhstan, forcing the referee to stop the contest in the third round (RSC).
In the men’s 50kg, L Ambekar had displayed a dominant performance in defeating his Ecuadorian opponent 5-0, showcasing technical precision and strong defensive discipline throughout the bout.
He had also outclassed his Tajikistan opponent, securing a 5-0 victory.
The World Boxing Futures Cup, being held in Bangkok from March 8 to 15, has promising youth boxers from across the world competing in the Youth Olympic weight categories.
Maintaining consistency will be key as the Indian contigent aim to convert their early success into medal-winning performances.
