IMPHAL, Mar 12: A swimming coach has written to the Director, Youth Affairs and Sports alleging a Wushu coach junior to him in the seniority list has been appointed as Assistant Director, Training and Coaching on in-charge basis.
In the letter, this paper has accessed, the swimming coach, in-charge of Khuman Lampak Swimming Pool, claimed he was promoted as swimming coach in march 2014 and is senior to the Wushu coach who has been given the position of the Assistant Director, Training and Coaching.
The appointment of the Wushu coach appears to be consistent with the settled principle of seniority, ordinarily followed while assigning higher duties on an in-charge basis in departmental postings and assignments, claimed the swimming coach.
Claiming he possesses the requisite experience, qualifications, and service record to effectively discharge the duties of Assistant Director (Training and Coaching) or DYASO, the swimming coach said non-consideration of his case has caused genuine grievance and may also set an unintended precedent adversely affecting service morale within the department.
The coach appealed to the Director YAS to review the appointment and issue appropriate orders considering his seniority and eligibility for appointment as Assistant Director (Training and Coaching) or DYASO, in the interest of "fairness and administrative propriety."
