311 cases resolved, over Rs 3.34 Cr settled

IMPHAL, Mar 14: Altogether 311 cases were successfully resolved during a National Lok Adalat held today with a total settlement amount of Rs 3,34,82,451.
The first National Lok Adalat for the calendar year 2026 held today was organised by the Manipur State Legal Services Authority (MASLSA), in association with the High Court Legal Services Committee (HCLSC) and District Legal Services Authorities (DLSAs).
The Lok Adalat was held across all District Courts and the High Court of Manipur.
Justice M Sundar, Chief Justice of the High Court of Manipur & Patron-in-Chief, MASLSA, personally inspected the sittings at the Thoubal and Lamphel Court complexes.
Justice A Bimol Singh, Executive Chairman, MASLSA, inspected the proceedings at the Bishnupur Court complex before joining the inspection at Lamphel Court complex alongside Justice A Guneshwar Sharma, Judge, High Court of Manipur & Chairman, HCLSC.
During the inspection at Lamphel Court complex, the Chief Justice handed over Lok Adalat Awards to some of the parties and congratulated them for successfully resolving their disputes through the platform of Lok Adalat, according to a press release issued by MASLSA.
In his address to the media, Justice M Sundar noted that this event marks the first National Lok Adalat scheduled for the calendar year 2026.
He observed a significant surge in the number of cases listed for settlement compared to the previous Lok Adalat held on December 13, 2025.
He highlighted that a total of 6,082 cases were listed before 14 benches across all nine judicial districts of Manipur, including Jiribam and one dedicated bench at the High Court of Manipur.
The Chief Justice emphasized the critical role of public awareness in the success of the National Lok Adalat. He extended his gratitude to the participants, Advocates, Para Legal Volunteers (PLVs) and members of the press and media for their efforts in creating awareness amongst the public about the benefits of Lok Adalat.
He also lauded the participation of banks and micro-finance institutions, noting that some offered waivers of up to 80% of claims, describing the gesture as "phenomenal and very encouraging."
The cases listed in today’s National Lok Adalat includes both pre-litigation and civil cases pending before the Courts such as original suits, money suits, bank recovery cases, matrimonial disputes, MACT cases, civil cases etc.
