Vidura’s Warning

Do not go, my elder brother,
A roasting fire waits for you.
The house is made of lac and oil,
It can burn in a moment.

I have only one counsel:
Dig the earth with your own hands,
Make a small tunnel below,
For shelter and for safety.

Purochana, the bad minister,
Hides a knife behind his smile.
He plans a secret burning night
To destroy you and your brothers.

But on the other side,
Watchful eyes are waiting.
When the palace burns in flames,
The truth will come to light.

O respected Yudhistira,
And brave sons of the Pandavas,
Escape through the hidden path
And walk again under the sky.

Vidura, a servant’s son,
Is not afraid to speak the truth.
For truth is stronger than fire,
And justice walks with courage.
