Manipur Olympic Association urges Government to clear dues

IMPHAL, Mar 14 : The Manipur Olympic Association (MOA) has drawn the attention of the State Government to clear outstanding fees, TA and DA and other dues with the association and State players following participation in the National games and other sporting events held in the recent years.
Speaking to media persons at the MOA office, MOA president Sunil Elangbam said that the association had submitted a proposed estimated budget to the Youth Affairs and Sports Department before the 38th National Games 2025 that was hosted by Uttarakhand.
Subsequently, the Government has handed out outstanding payments of Rs 12,000 each to State athletes leaving the athletes in three disciplines- Wushu, Rowing and Canoeing and Kayaking, he noted and urged the Government to look into the matter and do the needful.
While congratulating Y Khemchand, an International taekwondo player and sports activist, on becoming the new Chief Minister of the State, he also praised the former for his enthusiasm and his thoughtfulness by seeking written memorandum from all concerned to further the sports movement in the State.
He also sought the attention of the Chief Minister and Minister for Youth Affairs and Sports, Govindas Konthoujam to ensure that the outstanding reimbursements for coaching, travel, and equipment are cleared at the earliest considering the financial hardships faced by sports associations and the athletes.
