MU Men’s Sepaktakraw team bring home 2 gold and 1 bronze

IMPHAL, Mar 14 : The Manipur University Men’s Sepaktakraw team have brought home two gold and a bronze medal from the All India Inter University Sepaktakraw Tournament 2025-26 hosted by the Assam University in Silchar from March 11 to 14.
MU won the gold medals in the regu and quadrant events and the bronze medal in the team event.
Notably the women’s team have also won gold medals in the regu and quadrant events and a bronze medal from the same event that was held from March 6 to 9.
In the regu event, MU men’s team knocked out Cochin University of Sc and Technology in straight sets and University of Calicut by 2-1 sets to advance to the final league stage where they registered straight sets win over Panjab University, Chandigarh and Punjabi University, Patiala but lost 1-2 to the hosts Assam University.
Despite the final game loss, MU emerged winners on higher aggregate points.
Meanwhile in the quadrant event, MU defeated Gondwana University, Maharashtra in straight sets to secure their place in the final league stage.
In the final league round, MU got the better of MJP Rohilkhand University, Bareilly (UP) 2-0, Assam University 2-1 and University of Calicut 2-0 to earn the top honours.
Meanwhile in the team event, MU outlasted MJP Rohilkhand University and University of Calicut in the knock stage and reached the final league round.
In the final league round, MU defeated Punjabi University 3-0 but suffered 1-2 losses to Panjab University and Assam University to settle for the bronze medal.
The MU men’s team comprise Thokchom Dhruba, Monish Phamdom, Sanasam Galaxy and Simon Ngairangbam of Regional College; Oinam Hashkumar and Shanglakpam Aadarsh Sharma of Biramangol College; Sagar Moirangthem and Kshetrimayum Inaocha of Pole Star College; Ajayram Laishram of N Birahari College, and Sadokpamcha Bruce of YK College.
They were managed by Jadavchandra Haobam, Sector Officer, Sports, MU and coached by Ngasepam Rakeshor Singh.
Vice-Chancellor, Dean of Students Welfare and Registrar, MU and the MU Sports Committee congratulated the teams on their success at the All India Inter University tournament.
