House pays obituary reference to expired PM, Members

IMPHAL, Mar  9 : The seventh session of the 12th Manipur Legislative Assembly commenced today with an obituary reference to former Prime Minister Dr Manmohan Singh, former Manipur Governor La Ganesan and the Members and Secretaries of the State Legislative Assembly who have passed away.
At the beginning of the session, Members cutting across party lines expressed their profound sorrow over the demise of Dr Manmohan Singh, La Ganesan, former MLAs viz; Thoudam Debendra (Jiribam),  BD Behring (Chandel), Henam Lokhon Singh (Konthoujam), Vungzagin Valte (Thanlon), Dr Khasim Ruivah (Chingai), N Kayisii (Tadubi), Thangminlen Kipgen ( Kangpokpi), Meinam Bhorot Singh (Thangmeiband), Peter Pheirei (Chingai), Aribam Bimola (former Member of Manipur State Territorial Assembly, 1967), Yumnam Mani Singh (Wangoi) and former Secretaries of the Manipur Legislative Assembly Secretariat ––Thokchom Babu Singh and Rajkumar Modhusana.
The House observed two-minute silence in their honour.
Speaking during the obituary reference, Chief Minister Y Khemchand expressed his sadness over the passing of Dr Manmohan Singh, La Ganesan, and the Members and Secretaries of the State Assembly, remembering each of them fondly.
He extended his condolences and solidarity to all the bereaved families.
Former Chief Minister O Ibobi and CLP leader K Meghachandra also paid obituary references, describing the passing of each of these 15 individuals as a great loss.
Former CM N Biren Singh, Art and Culture and Tourism Minister Kh Loken, and several Members of the House including LM Khaute (Churachandpur AC), Dr Sapam Ranjan (Konthoujam AC), Kh Joykisan (Thangmeiband AC), S Rajen (Lamsang AC), Khasim Vashum (Chingai AC), Awangbow Newmai (Tamei AC), Ram Muivah (Ukhrul AC), Karam Shyam (Langthabal AC), Th Shyamkumar (Andro AC), Sapam Kunjakeswor (Patsoi AC), Abdul Nassir (Lilong AC), SS Olish (Chandel AC), and Th Shanti (Moirang AC) also expressed their condolences during the obituary reference.
