IMPHAL, Mar 9: The National People’s Party (NPP) today inducted new members and organised a reception ceremony in honour of the new members at Hotel Classic Grande.
Speaking at the gathering, NPP State unit vice-president and former MLA Irengbam Hemochandra said that joining the NPP is equivalent to being a part of a collective movement for the North East region.
NPP, which took birth on the soil of the North East and nurtured by PA Sangma since 2013, is a political party which focuses on the issues and interests of the region, Hemochandra said.
He said that joining the NPP is akin to taking part in a movement for integration of the North East region.
He also appealed to people to join NPP in order to create a brighter political future of the entire North East region including Manipur.
Responding to a query raised by media persons, Hemochandra said that NPP will definitely contest the 13th Manipur Legislative Assembly elections but only time will tell with which party it will form alliance or go for in friendly contest.
But the party will never compromise the collective interest of the North East region, he added.
MLA Janghemlung Panmei, NPP National general secretary Mmhonlumo Kikon, National secretary Saidul Khan and State unit president Dr Lorho S Pfoze too spoke at the event where 201 persons were inducted into NPP.
