UKHRUL, Apr 10 : The Tangkhul Naga Long (TNL) has claimed that a BSF jawan was killed in firing by cadres of Kuki armed groups under the SoO pact.
In a press statement, the TNL condemned the indiscriminate firing from Mongkot Chepu towards Sharkaphung, a Tangkhul Naga village in Kamjong District, which began in the early afternoon on April 10, 2026.
The TNL said that the BSF jawan Mithun Man-dal who was hit while on duty during the reckless firing by Kuki SoO cadres, succumbed to his injuries in the evening.
The TNL Working Committee strongly condemned the killing of neutral Central force personnel, who had been stationed to bring order and peace to the conflict zone.
The Committee also expressed its deepest condolences to the bereaved family and loved ones of the deceased.
Since the outbreak of conflict in the Litan area, the Kuki SoO cadres and their armed villagers have been on the offensive, launching renewed aggression against Tangkhul Naga villages, it said.
It also said that the Tangkhul Naga village volunteers have maintained restraint and have not initiated any offensive actions.
They only retaliate with caution in response to unprovoked attacks by Kuki armed cadres, TNL said and added that the innocent Tangkhul Naga civilians have been at the receiving end of the assault from Kuki militants.
TNL stated that their village volunteers remain committed to protecting their villages in the conflict zone from repeated attacks by Kuki armed groups.
