IMPHAL, Apr 13 : On the joyous occasion of Cheiraoba, Governor Ajay Kumar Bhalla has extended warm greetings and best wishes to the people of Manipur.
In a message, Governor Bhalla said Cheiraoba is marked by family gatherings, offering of prayers and age-old customs that strengthen the bonds of love and unity among people.
He expressed hope for this Cheiraoba to bring peace, prosperity and happiness and further strengthen the spirit of harmony, unity and brotherhood in Manipuri society.
Adding his Cheiraoba greetings, Chief Minister Yumnam Khemchand prayed for this year's Cheiraoba celebrations to act as a catalyst for new beginnings, reflection, and strengthened unity among people.
Although previous years saw subdued celebrations, Manipur is now witnessing a new era of renewed hope, peace and unity among the many communities living in the State, said the Chief Minister.
Yumnam Khemchand has called upon the people to rise above all challenges as they proceed to cleanse their homes, offer traditional delicacies to local deities for protection and prosperity and climb nearby hills to secure success in the coming year.
Welcoming the New Year, Speaker of the Manipur Legislative Assembly Th Satyabrata Singh has prayed for this Cheiraoba to remind people that their shared identity, culture and traditions continue to shine brightly.
"May the New Year bring strength to preserve our heritage, courage to face challenges and joy in every home", said the Speaker.
Mayang Imphal AC MLA K Robindro Singh has expressed hope for the New year to bring an end to the shadows of the past while ushering in an era of permanent peace, communal harmony and collective prosperity.
"Let the traditional Ching Kaba (climbing of hills) symbolize our collective rise together to greater heights of resilience and progress", said the MLA.
Rounding off, the Manipur Pradesh Congress Committee (MPCC) has sent out a message of unity, harmony and strengthened bonds between different communities to create a better Manipur, on the occasion of Cheiraoba.
