Prohibitory orders imposed in IE

IMPHAL, Apr 2 : The District Magistrate of Imphal East Dr Nivedita Lairenlakpam has promulgated prohibitory orders under section 163 of BNSS, 2023 in the entire revenue district of Imphal East for a period of two months with immediate effect.
The order issued today prohibits- public assembly of 5 or more persons in any public place; carrying of weapons such as firearms, arms, cudgels, sticks, swords, spears, explosives, corrosive substances or any other object or weapon capable of being used to commit violence; rallies, processions, bandhs, strikes and demonstrations without the prior written permission of the DM, Imphal East; obstruction of roads, public thoroughfares or any essential services and any general prohibition which has the potential to disturb public peace and tranquillity.
However, the restrictions will not apply to members of the police and Armed Forces, Government officers on official duty, religious or customary practices and any other person/organization specifically exempted in writing by the DM, Imphal East.
Any person found violating the order will be liable for punishment under section 223 of BNSS 2023 and other relevant laws in force.
