IMPHAL, Apr 8 : The Naga Students' Federation (NSF) has strongly condemned and expressed outrage over the recent 'brutal assault, death threats, and extortion' directed at two bonafide members of the Naga community from Tseminyu district, who were engaged in legitimate livelihood activities.
In a statement, NSF stated that the incident occurred in the early hours of March 23, 2026, between Keithelmanbi and Sapermeina in Kangpokpi district.
The Federation stated that it has taken serious note of this disturbing pattern of recurring acts of violence and intimidation against innocent Nagas.
It pointed out that such repeated incidents highlight the ongoing harassment faced by ordinary Naga citizens, particularly those who rely on daily trade and mobility across regions to survive.
The Naga people, across the Naga homeland, have always upheld the values of peaceful coexistence and mutual respect among all communities, NSF emphasized.
However, these cowardly acts of violence and lawlessness challenge these principles and threaten to erode the fragile fabric of coexistence in the region, it said
NSF expressed its firm solidarity with the victims and extended its unwavering support to the Rengma Students' Union (RSU) for its resolute stance in defending the rights and dignity of its members.
The Federation has taken due notice of this incident and the death threats directed at the victims is a direct challenge to the Naga people's resilience and commitment to peace and harmony, the statement read.
In light of this, NSF called on the authorities to take immediate and decisive action to identify, apprehend, and prosecute the perpetrators without delay.
The Federation also urged the relevant authorities to implement concrete measures to safeguard the safety and security of all civilians, ensuring that such incidents do not recur in the future.
"Failure to deliver justice will compel the NSF to take strong countermeasures to defend the rights, dignity, and security of the Naga people," the statement warned.
NSF reiterated that such criminal acts will not be tolerated under any circumstances, and stressed that justice must be served swiftly and appropriately.
