UKHRUL, May 12: The Naga Village Guard, Eastern Command has  outrightly rejected the allegation levelled against the Tangkhul Naga community over the reported attack on Molnoi, a Kuki village inside Myanmar at around 3.30 pm on May 12, 2026, which is being circulated in social media by certain Kuki individuals.
“The Tangkhul Naga community declares that we have no hands in the incident that occurred today in Myanmar, which has been embroiled in internal unrest since the past few years. We are committed to protect and defend our own land and people, and have never meddled with the affairs in our neighbouring country, Myanmar”, said a press  release issued by NVG Eastern Command.
The incident that occurred on Tuesday at Molnoi, which is located in Myanmar, approximately 2 Km from the Border Pillar No 113 in Kamjong district, could be their own handiwork and an attempt to put the blame to the Tangkhul Naga community so as to plot another alibi to attack the innocent Naga border villagers, it said.
Molnoi is reported to be the hub of Kuki National Army-Burma (KNA-B), a constituent of Peoples’ Defence Force (PDF), which has been waging war against the military junta.
The attack on Kuki village Molnoi could have been a repercussion of the internal unrest that is currently prevailing in Myanmar, it said.
“The Naga Village Guard, Eastern Command, therefore reject the unfounded allegation and condemn the attempt to malign the image of the Tangkhul Naga community”, it added.
Molnoi in Myanmar is perceived to be a stronghold of the Kuki National Front and in the year 2007, The Sangai Express had carried a news story detailing how the outfit planned to observe its 20th foundation day at Molnoi.
It was on May 18, 1988 at Molnoi village in Myanmar that the KNF came into existence under the initiative of Pu (L) Demkhoseh Gangte, (L) Pu Maokot Pakang Haokip and Pu (L) Nehlun Kipgen for the of Kukiland in the North East India under the Indian Constitution, it was reported back then.  On the outfit's 20th Birth Anniversary, the KNF(S) had also sent its greetings to UPF members which comprises of ZRA, KLA, KNF, HPC (D), KRA and UKLF.
