IMPHAL, May 19 : The Chandel Naga People’s Organisation (CNPO) has asked the Government for relocation of Naga employees presently serving in Kuki-majority areas.
Given the prevailing climate of insecurity, administrative breakdown and deepening communal polarization, continued deployment of Naga Government employees in volatile Kuki-dominated regions, particularly Tengnoupal, Moreh, Molcham, Kangpokpi, Churachandpur and adjoining areas is both psychologically traumatic and operationally untenable, the CNPO said in a press release.
Citing the assassination of SDPO Moreh, Chingtham Anand Kumar on October 31, 2024 and snatching of police arms in Tengnoupal, the CNPO said that when even armed State police personnel are vulnerable to fatal attacks and mortal danger, the legitimate fears and insecurities or ordinary Government employees cannot be dismissed as mere apprehension.
It urged the State Government and all concerned authorities to institute an immediate temporary relocation, adjustment, reassignment or alternative deployment arrangement for Naga Government employees, particularly those from Chandel and Tengnoupal until normalcy and public trust are meaningfully restored.
