IMPHAL, May 31: Manipur seems to have been divided into three parts with three Governments, one each for Meitei, Naga and Kuki community, said COCOMI leader Ksh Romesh, blaming Government of India's skewed policies.
Ksh Romesh, Core Committee member of the COCOMI made the statements at a sit-in protest demonstration, organised at Lambal Community Hall today.
The demonstration, organised by the Lambal Apunba Nupi Lup, Imphal West was held under the aegis of the Coordinating Committee on Manipur Integrity (COCOMI).
Accusing the Government of India of implementing divisive policies, Romesh said Manipur at present seems to be governed by three Governments, one each for the Meitei, the Naga and the Kuki community.
The Meiteis are unable to go to the hills, and the Nagas and Kukis are unable to venture into each other's villages. This division has been brought about by the flawed and skewed policies of the Government of India, Romesh asserted.
"Us fighting has no impact on India, and the Central security forces are here to watch our houses being burnt down," he said, criticising the Government's failure to curb violence.
Hinting that the people of the State shouldn't expect the Government of India to actually stop the violence and bring about a resolution to the crisis, Romesh said the people must take the responsibility themselves.
"It is us who must put out the fire and save our own home. The people must unite to face all threats and secure the future of the State," he said.
The protesters raised slogans calling on the Government of India to "end its proxy war", and crack down on Chin-Kuki narco-terrorists.
Nupi Samaj secretary P Sobita Leima also took part in the protest demonstration.
