AITUC holds 17th State Conference

IMPHAL, Jun 28 : The All India Trade Union Congress (AITUC), Manipur held its 17th State Conference on Sunday at Young Learners’ Club, Hao Ground, Pishum Nameirakpam Leikai, Chinga Mathak. AITUC Manipur general secretary L Sotinkumar said the union continues to work for workers despite many challenges and aims to organise the unorganised sector in the State. Noting that many workers do not get due wages, he said AITUC demands a minimum monthly wage of Rs 26,000. He mentioned that the union will urge the Chief Minister to set up shelter homes at the nine workers’ locations in the State. Sotinkumar added that AITUC also takes up State and national issues. Its demands include immediate resolution of the conflict ongoing since May 3, no census or delimitation until issues are resolved, implementation of NRC, resettlement of IDPs, urgent talks with the Centre, and establishing a skill university for unemployed youth. Working president Salam Yaima, vice president S Nilakamal, NFIW vice president M Shakhi, ASHA president Th Purnimashi, and union leaders from various districts attended.
