Khemchand plants saplings on WED

Imphal, Jun 5: To promote environmental con- servation, Chief Minister Yumnam Khemchand Singh planted tree saplings in connection with the World Environment Day 2026 at the 50-bedded Integrated AYUSH Hospital at Lamphelpat, today.
Upon his arrival at the venue, the Chief Minister was received by the Additional Director of AYUSH Dr S Bishwanath Sharma.
As part of the programme, Khemchand along with Commissioner-cum-Secretary of Health and Family Welfare Sumant Singh, participated in the plantation of medicinal plants, said a press release issued by the CM's Secretariat.
The species planted included Arjuna and Ashoka respectively, both known for their medicinal significance, it added.
Following the plantation activity, the Chief Minister inspected the hospital to assess the facilities and services available at the institution.
The programme organised by the Directorate of AYUSH was attended by officials of the Department.
