IMPHAL, Jul 15 : Apart from assessing the destruction caused by Kuki mobs at Kanto Sabal on July 11, 2026, Chief Minister Yumnam Khemchand today inspected the security deployment at Leimakhong Chingmang and Kanto Sabal.
The Chief Minister visited Kanto Sabal and he was accompanied by Sekmai AC MLA H Dingo, Imphal West SP and other police officers.
On reaching Kanto Sabal, Khemchand assessed the houses burnt down by Kuki mobs and inspected the reconstruction process.
The houses burnt down by the Kuki mobs are being reconstructed with all the expenses borne by MLA H Dingo. The Chief Minister instructed all concerned to expedite the reconstruction process.
Khemchand also inspected the security deploy- ment at Kanto Sabal and Leimakhong Chingmang.
Interacting with the personnel of Leimakhong police station who were on duty there, Khemchand instructed the police personnel to take up necessary measures so as to prevent untoward incidents in the area.
Later, the Chief Minister talked with representatives of Meitei and Naga people who have been imposing economic blockade at Kanto Sabal as well as representatives of local clubs and Meira Paibi organisations at Kanto Sabal community hall.
As the Chief Minister came out from the community hall after talking with the local representatives, media persons raised a number of questions but Khemchand left without replying.
During their meeting with the Chief Minister, local clubs and Meira Paibis of Kanto Sabal submitted a five-point memorandum.
The five points raised through the memorandum are–– shifting the CRPF troops presently stationed at Kanto          Sabal to Leima-khong Chingmang entry point and Ingourok Ching-mang; setting up a permanent IRB post at the spot where houses were burnt down and a commando team is currently deployed; ensuring free movement on the road leading to the ex-servicemen colony; preventing Kukis from creating any disturbance or taking out rallies in  areas covered by Sekmai police station and shifting the 18th Punjab Regiment’s gate post from its present location to the entry point of ex-servicemen colony.
The Chief Minister reportedly assured that he would look into the demands and work to translate them into action.
