Keinou local associations fete kickboxers

MOIRANG, Jul 17 : Kickboxers who made top finishes at the Octagon Fight Championship (OFC 4.0) National Pro Kickboxing Championship that took place from July 9 to July 11, 2026 in North Lakhimpur, Assam were accorded a warm reception today at Loyalakpa Community Hall in Keinou.
The medallists include Soraisam Sonia Devi (48 Kg Girls Kickboxing gold) and Wangchung Aimol (60 Kg Senior Amateur Belt Gold). The young kickboxers were led by coach Nanao Golmei.
The reception programme was jointly organised by Keinou Youth Club (KYC), Keinou Apunba Meira Paibi Lup; Keinou Development Club and Soraisam Sagei Trust.
Lecturer at MB College, N Chanu Chingkheinganbi; Retd TB Officer Bishnupur, S Brojen Singh; Retd Panchayat Secretary S Indeshore and others graced the event as dignitaries.
Soraisam Sonia, daughter of late Indrajit and late Khambi of Keinou, bagged the gold medal by defeating Delhi’s Ankita in the final.
Her compatriot Khongchung Wangchung Aimol, meanwhile, bagged the gold by defeating his Assamese opponent in the final. He was born to Reng Na of Pallel.
T Janatranjan of Nambol Wakching Khullen, who won a bronze medallist in Junior Amateur Belt 48 kg and L Nelson of Sega Road Thouda Bhabok Leikai, who won a bronze medal at the 52 kg category Senior Amateur Belt; coaches Nanao Golmei, Tondonba and Yaima were also feted at the occasion.
The athletes and coaches were honoured with simple gifts and encouraged to bring home more laurels in the future.
