4 back to back surgeries performed at AOI via Laser Proctology

IMPHAL, Jul 20 :  Cerulean MediVital, with sponsorship from AR Photoniccs, collaborated with the ASI Manipur State Chapter to successfully organize the first Laser Proctology CME (Continuing Medical Education) and Live Surgery Workshop at the American Oncology Institute, Babina Multi-specialty Hospital, Imphal.
While the CME was attended by both senior and junior surgeons in Manipur, the CME and live surgeries were performed by Dr Kalyan Kar, renowned for pioneering Laser Proctology in India, with over 22 years of experience, having performed over a thousand successful surgeries in India and abroad.
The four surgeries were performed back to back within two hours at American Oncology Institute, Babina Multispecialty Hospital, Imphal without charging the patients any fees for the surgery or hospitalization.
After completing four surgeries, Dr Kalyan Kar said that Laser Hemorrhoidoplasty (LHP) was performed on two laser hemorrhoid cases—one a third-degree, and the other, a second-degree, without losing a single drop of blood.
He also said there were no external surgical wounds, and both procedures were clean surgeries.
The other two were fistula patients, one having a fistula with an abscess, where the abscess was drained first and the fistula treated thereafter, he said.
He further said the second fistula patient had a very complex fistula and was treated using the laser technique.
Dr Thangjam Dhabali, Chairman and Managing Director, Babina Group, added that laser-based technology is the best option for treating patients with piles, fistula and fissure.
On the occasion, Ajay Chanam, founder of Cerulean MediVital, noted that enhancing the adoption of laser technology in proctology (medical specialty focused on the diagnosis and treatment of disorders affecting the colon, rectum, and anus) will ultimately benefit patients who will have an option for a safer and less painful surgical treatment.
Prof N Somorjit Singh, Chairman of ASI Manipur State Chapter, expressed satisfaction over the successful conduct of the first-ever Laser Proctology CME and Live Surgery Workshop in Manipur. He stated that the programme was organised to equip young surgeons with the latest knowledge and practical skills in laser proctology through expert lectures and live surgical demonstrations.
