Echel Club Dibong in full flow at Tilotama Kang

Jiribam, Aug 17: Echel Club Dibong was in full flow, defeating SAYC (A) by a wide margin of 18-8 in the 2nd quarter-final league round of the 16th E Tilotama Memorial Mixed Kang Tournament 2017 at the Kalimai Mandhob in Jiribam today.
IMA Kangkhut Cachar will clash with NMIK Jiribam in the next quarter-final league round tomorrow.

Khallai FC lift Independence Day Cup at Singngat

Imphal, Aug 16: The Khal-lai FC, Singngat, lift the 12th SAFA Independence Day Cup 2017 after thrashing VYASA FC 3-0 in a pulsating final match at the Singngat playground.
The tournament, which was co-sponsored by the 26 AR, started on July 26 with 16 teams entering the fray. Spectators thronged the venue in droves to watch the final match yesterday.
The champion went home richer by Rs 30,000 while the runners-up took Rs 15,000 home.

Imphal, Aug 16: Shooter Nongthombam Indrasini who hails from Manipur won six medals including 2 gold, 2 silver and 2 bronze medals in the ongoing World Police and Fire 2017 in Los Angeles, California. She is currently serving in Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF).
Indrasini took her 2 gold medals in big bore rifles match (300 yards unisex individual) and in .22 smallbore rifles prone (50 m unisex individual); 2 silver in big bore rifles combined unisex and .22 smallbore free rifles three position (50m unisex individual); 2 bronze in .22 smallbore rifles prone (50m unisex team) and .22 small-bore free rifles three position (50m unisex team).
She started her career as a shooter in the Manipur Rifle’s Association and recieved training here at the SAISAG, Khuman Lampak. She has brought laurels for the state from many national competitions. She is the eldest daughter of Nongthombam Indrajit, president of Manipur Rifles’ Association, and Nong-thombam Ashangbi.

Imphal, Aug 16: The Mani-pur Sport Climbing Asso- ciation is organising the 48th Sport Climbing Course, from Aug 26 to Sep 1 at the Kangla Artificial Climbing Wall, Minuthong, said a statement from the association.
Interested climbers can collect the participation forms from the office of the association at the MMTA Com- plex, Minuthong and the deadline for form submission is Aug 23.

Imphal, Aug 16: A 49-member zendokai karate team from Manipur left Imphal today to take part in the National Open Zendokai Karate Champion-ship that will be held from Aug 17 to 19 at the Indoor Sport Hall, Polo Ground in Shillong.
The team include 45 karatekas, out of which 25 are male and 17 female, and four officials including RK Lansa-na (male coach), S Kanabala (female coach), Dr M Ibom-cha and Md Mujibur Rahman.

Manipur Police lift Maram volleyball trophy

Imphal, Aug 14: Manipur Police claimed the champion-ship title of the Maram Khullen Men’s Open State-level Volley-ball Tournament after defeating Bakhe in the final at the Raisung Ground in Maram Khullen.
The winner went home richer by one lakh rupees while the runners-up took Rs 50,000 home. Organised by the Maram Khullen Circle Students’ and Youth Organisation, the four-day tournament featured sixteen teams, a majority of them from Imp-hal that vied for the title on a knock-out basis.
Meanwhile, the organisers had termed the tournament as successful in a statement. Dignitaries including several community leaders had attended the valedictory func- tion as well as more than 3000-strong audience had watched the final match today, mentioned the statement.
