Kpi CSOs suspend ‘sustained shutdown’ call

KANGPOKPI, Aug 12: The postponed sustained shutdown by CSOs Kangpokpi District has been suspended after YAS Minister’s assured to talk the matter with the Chief Minister on Sunday.
The CSOs proposal to clamp a sustained shutdown in the entire Kangpokpi district from 6 am of August 11 was earlier postponed on August 13 morning when the CSOs received a positive response from the Government which assured them talks will be with all the concerned stakeholders before 3 pm of August 12.
The decision to suspend the sustained shutdown came after today’s meeting where the Youth Affairs Sports Minister Letpao Haokip, who is also the IFCD Minister assured the Kangpokpi CSOs that a meaningful meeting with the Chief Minister will be held on August 13. Thangminlen Kipgen, president, KSO Sadar Hills said, “we find some commitment on the part of the State Government in finding an amicable solution regarding the dispute over Haraothel and we keep our faith once again that the matter will be resolved without violence.”
He continued that the YAS Minister today optimistically assured us to have a threadbare discussion on the issue of encroachment at Haraothel land jointly with the Chief Minister and initiate process for an amicable solution on Monday which was accepted for bringing a solution to the issue.
Therefore, the proposed and postponed sustained shutdown which is scheduled to begin from 6 am of August 13 has been suspended, he added.
However, he asserted that any flippant attitude of the assurance would lead to a district administration breakdown and urged the public of the district to be ever ready for the consequence of a betrayal from the State Government.
