Silchar, Oct 12:A delegation of the Manipuri Youth Front Assam, MYFA led by its secretary general Fanjowbam Lokenath met Assam Chief Minister Sarbananda Sonowal on Wednesday at Silchar Circuit House during CM’s special visit to Silchar. The delegates also submitted a memorandum to the Assam CM.

In their charter of demands, the Youth Front also pitched for declaration of Manipuri Martyrs Day, (August 13) as State holiday of Assam.

Further, the Youth Front also urged to include Manipuri as optional in gazetted, non gazetted posts and combined competitive examination conducted by the State Government as the Manipuri language is enlisted under 8th Schedule of the Constitution of India.
After meeting the CM, MYFA secretary general Fanjowbam Lokenath told reporters that the front will resort to several forms of agitation if the Assam Government fails to fulfil their demands.
The MYFA delegation also included president Seram Herajit and member Seram Pariton.
