NPO questions Govt silence over NSF memo NSF urged to review ban decision

Senapati, Feb 23: Naga People’s Organization (NPO) has urged the Naga Students’ Federation (NSF) to review its decision of imposing bandh on Meitei/Manipuri owned vehicles at Naga inhabited areas in the interest of the general public.
On the other hand, NPO has come down heavily against the prolonged silence of the Manipur Government over the assault of NSF leaders by Manipur police commandos on February 14 at Imphal.
In a statement, NPO said that as the incident relates to State Government, the agitation should not harm the public who are at the receiving end due to Government’s apathy.
It added that the innocent public must not be held responsible for the blunders committed by the trigger- happy, communal and provocative Manipur police commandos, who have records of fake encounters, killing of innocent civilians, extortions, harassment and assault and many other unlawful activities in Manipur.
NPO while appealing for promoting communal harmony and peaceful co-exis- tence among different communities, urged NSF to review its decision in the interest of the general public.
NPO further said that the proposed ban would be effective from 6 am of February 24. It added that the utter negligence and silence of the State Government over the matter is highly condemnable.
Involvement of law enforcers in the incidents which could be seen as communal and provocative is highly unacceptable and it is a threat to public harmony, the organisation said.
Saying that the they cannot continue to sit and watch such incidents, NPO said that State Government’s failure to tackle such issues would only trigger more problems.
Denying to meet NSF team after the incident and prolonged silence over its memorandum manifest endorsement of Manipur police commandos’ action against the NSF, NPO said and demanded that action be initiated against the police commandos involved in the incident immediately.

  1. Meiteis should not support such actions of the commandos when they themselves are the victims. Instead they should put pressure on the GOM to punish or reprimand the erring commandos if they really want communal harmony which they professed.
How many more Ch Shanjit do you want?

  2. Meiteis and CSOs of Valley areas are only talking about bridging the gap between hill and valley divide, brotherhood, peaceful co-existence, rally for common future, communal harmony etc. but without any action. At this critical juncture, they should have pressurize the GoM and police commandos to be accountable for what they have done……… NSF are the goons, if CODs are really concern about the public security, they should have treat the people with dignity.

    1. Actually meiteis are a good communities. GOM and politic are the main cause of all these, same with NSF but nsf got more advantage as they owned the road, the commandos dont’ have brain they have guns.

  3. High handedness if any is highly condemable. At the same time, people should also listen to the police on duty when they are politely asked to step out of the vehicle for frisking and checking which is their duty instead of saying I’m this or that. Afterall not all police are same like two persons do not have same face, sometimes people should start looking up humane side of police as they are doing duty day and night.

    1. Are u a male or a female? if u r a female just shut up coz u might not have experience frisking by Manipur police commandos. Who dare disobey MP commandos. and never expect polite words from MP, they speak the most communal words.

  4. It seems whatever good things, bad things happen in Manipur. People always against/attack/ despise each other. I see there is no love among the people of Manipur. Even the blogger are the worst communal people in this cyber world. I am not against to any one, I just reply to the few comment like the way they wrote to let them know that everything that we do is reflecting back to us. So don’t point your finger to others you are pointing your four finger to yourself.

  5. If the Meeteis really are in for peace and harmony, they should also stand and raise their voice and even act to the endless barbaric actions of the Commandos. Why do they have to raise concerns only when they are likely to be affected? When their means of livelihood/daily bread are threatened, only then they sense the real problem!

    1. You may be right but I don’t think so. Did Naga ever stand up/raise their voice against their voice for the Meitei? So don’t blame others. Instead lets talk about resolving the sensitive issue.

  6. A communal war will be a solution to this long term hatred created by Muivah. First, we will fight and kill each other. Let Meitei die in the hills and let the Naga in valley also bear the brutal assault. Collateral damage to other tribes will also arise and with time it will settle with a scar. Let us test the supremacy of the two community, Naga or Meitei. Lets check who loses more with a communal riot. Let he Naga’s of Manipur feel the unknown and the unseen circumstances. Let the Meitei also learn the hard way with their fanatic views of the “Haos”. Lets see what killing brings to all of us. Only then all of us will realise.

    1. Its worth mentioning that, a team of Manipur police commando stopped and allegedly roughed up NSF delegates, who were on their way to attend the Luingai-ni festival at Ukhrul on february 14 at Mantripukhri,Imphal.
But why? Was that happened without any rhyme & rhythm?
What is the caused of the current stir? What will be the right step? Why Chief Minister of Manipur and Deputy CM, home Minister remain silent? Communal war will not be a sulution. Let us not be emotional. Think ten times what is behind the screen and let us not do what they wanted. They will not suffer but ennocents will take the brunt .

      1. Ragui “our” state is breaking up between communities vying for power and status forget the identity.
What incited the decision of the NSF to ban “Meitei” owned vehicles from “Naga” inhibited area? Are there no Naga inhibited areas in Imphal valley? What happens when these few outnumbered Naga community in Imphal valley is banned from driving their own vehicles forcing them to stop all their daily activities? What will happen to an expecting Naga mother if she has to go to the hospital without a vehicle and where majority of the doctors are ‘Meiteis’?

Well Manipur Commandoes are the devils created by the EX-DGP and its gangs to accumulate money for his political dreams by charging exorbitant rates to the tune of 25 lakhs rupees in the state police recruitment drive. “NO PROPER TRAININGS, NO PROPER ORDER, NO DISCIPLINE” So the result of this recruitment is a ticking time bomb for many such incidents like what has just happened to the folks of NSF.
Till these few batches of police personal retires or they are rehabilitated and educated such ugly altercation will continue to break out regularly.

The irony is we are still together in a single state and a student organisation form a different state has such powers to disrupt both you and me and the nagas and the kukis and whatsoever.
