SAINERC organise mini-marathon to mark 150th birth anniversary of Mahatma Gandhi

Imphal, Aug 12: Marking the 150th birth anniversary of Mahatma Gandhi, Sports Authority of India North-East Regional Centre organised today a mini-marathon as a part of Swachh Pakhwada campaign under Swachh Bharat Abhiyan and World Youth’s Day. SAI inmates took part in the mini-marathon around SAI Centre Takyel. The campaign has been going on since August 1 under the aegis of the Youth Affairs and Sports Ministry and the Ministry of Election and Information Technology and will conclude on August 15.
The mini-marathon was flagged off with the theme ‘Let’s Make India Clean’, said the director-in-charge SAI NERC Imphal, Francis Marwin on the occasion.
The 15-day programme is to create sanitation awareness and for making the areas around the complex clean and let the people know about the initiatives being undertaken under Swachh Bharat Abhi-yan, he added.
He further said that the same programme is organised in other SAI centres situated in Manipur and stressed on the importance of people’s participation to make the campaign successful.
