AMSU meeting

IMPHAL, May 16: AMSU Imphal East District Committee organised a students’ meeting at Success School, Chingarel Tejpur at 3 pm today.
A press release issued by the information and publicity secretary of AMSU Imphal East District Committee, stated that a new branch of AMSU was also inaugurated at Sawombung and Kshetrimayum Keshper and Yambem Malemnganba were elected as the president and general secretary respectively.

AMSU expands

IMPHAL, May 15 : All Manipur Students’ Union (AMSU) has opened its new branch at Chingmeirong during a meeting held at AMSU, HQs office today.
The meeting was also attended by AMSU, HQs co-ordinating and networking secretary Laishram Athouba Meitei, AMSU, Imphal East District Committee president Dhanachandra Khaidem and members of AMSU, Imphal East District Committee.
During the meeting, Maheshwar Takhellambam was elected to post of president while Ramananda Sharma and Ronald W were elected to post of vice president of the newly constituted AMSU, Chingmeirong Branch.
Post to general secretary and finance secretary were also elected.

Sit in protest

Students of LMS Law College and volunteers of All Manipur Students’ Union (AMSU) staged a sit in protest in front of the main entrance gate of  LMS College today, against the proposed appointment of an outsider as the Advocate General of Manipur and the amendment of rule 9 of Manipur Judiciary Service Rule 2005 yesterday.

AMSU appeals

IMPHAL, Apr 26 : All Manipur Students’ Union today urged Chief Minister N Biren to appoint a competent and eligible senior advoccate of the State as Advocate General in the interest of the people of Manipur.
In a statement, AMSU said the proposed decision to appoint a non-local as Advocate General of the State is not justified. As such, the State Government should review the decision so that the matter may be resolved in the greater interest of the people of the State.

AMSU asserts

Thoubal: All Manipur Students’ Union, Thoubal District Committee has today urged the authority concerned to provide mid-day meal to various schools under Thoubal Zone-III.
In a statement, AMSU, Thoubal District Committee said that the body inspected different schools located under Thoubal Zone-III between January and March. During the inspection, it was found that mid-day meal scheme was not implemented in more than 20 schools. It was also learned that in some schools, Rs 1000 and above was also collected as grant for providing mid-day meal.
The statement urged the authority concerned to look into the matter and take necessary steps.
Schools deprived of mid-day meal facility are Wangjing High School, Tekcham Heiningsoi Primary School, Thoudam Upper Primary School, Kshetri Leikai Aided High School, Kshetri Leikai Upper Primary School, Keiranbi Upper Primary School, Manishang Primary School, Moijing Primary Madrassa, Wangbal Junior High School, Marongbal Primary School, Moijing Upper Primary School, Khekman Boys’ Primary School, Khekman Wangmataba High School and Irong Salam Achouba Upper Primary School.

Realisation Day observed

Jiribam: All Manipur Students’ Union (AMSU), District Committee Jiribam observed the 37th Realisation Day at their office, Jiribam today to commemorate the 1980 uprising of students and public against the influx of outsiders into the State.
Floral tributes were paid to the photographs of  Potsangbam Premananda and Huidrom Lokendro who died during the ‘Go back Foreigners’ movement of AMSU on April 17, 1980.
The observance was attended by ex-president of AMSU, Jiri branch N Priyobarta Singh, AMSU District Committee president Y Sanjiv, advocate and former president of AMSU District Committee L Romen and president of Jiri Development Organisation (JDO) Hemanta Singh as chief guest, president and guests of honour respectively.

AMSU urges

The All Manipur Students Union (AMSU) has urged the people of the State to take part in the Realization Day observation which will be held tomorrow, conveyed a press release issued by the secretary general of the union.
Appealing to all to refrain from any kinds of celebration, bandhs, blockades etc on the day, it informed that the programme would start with hymns and songs at 2 am, followed by paying of floral tributes to the memorial stones of student martyrs located at Pishum Chingamacha at 10 am. A public meeting would also be held at Manipur College multipurpose hall.

AMSU hosts campaign

Jiribam: Ahead of 37th Realisation day, the All Manipur Students Union (AMSU), district committee, Jiribam organised a mobilisation campaign today at various schools situated at Jiribam.
The mobilisation campaign was held in connection with “Campaign for protection of indigenous people”.
General secretary Kh Tiken singh, joint secretary Sabir Ahmed, joint secretary Seema Chanu, HRD secretary W Deemocha, organisation secretary M Malem Chanu, assistant secretary of AMSU P Leisemba Meitei, district committee Jiribam assisted the campaign.

AMSU representatives take oath

IMPHAL, Mar 25: Oath taking ceremony of the newly elected representatives for the various posts of All Manipur Students’ Union (AMSU) for the year 2017 was organised today along with the release of the Union’s action plan at AMSU Hqs.
Former president of AMSU Leihaothabam Saratchandra, AMSU president S Subhaschandra and MU Dean of Student Welfare Professor Tomba took part in the event as the chief guest, president and guest of honour respectively.
Manjit Sarangthem, Laishram Peter, Haobijam Chalamba Meitei and Loitam Ojitkumar were sworn in as the president, vice president, secretary general and finance secretary respectively.
